The Cougs

Ryan has season tickets for BYU football. Ruthie and I got to join him for one game, while Tate stayed with Aunt Suzanne (thanks!). Ruthie is the best cheerleader and always kept tabs on where Cosmo the Cougar was. She even met him before the game which she wasn't too thrilled about. He's much more fun from a distance. Ruthie actually held up Tate's BYU football during church last week and said "Say Go Cougars!" to the 7 year old Utah fan behind us. The other girl was completely offended at the suggestion. Ryan has tought her well. I can guarantee this won't be the last post regarding BYU. It's football season. It's a BIG part of our iives for the next few months!

We had a fantastic time last week at beautiful Lake Tahoe with our good friends Dave and Cat! Ryan had been skiing there once but neither of us had been to Tahoe during the summer. Our trip included: a gondola ride to the top of the North Star ski resort, swimming at the condo's heated pool, chillin and swimming at the beach, hiking down to Emerald Bay, kayaking to Crystal Bay, and late night scrabble games to name just a few of our highlights. The low point of the trip was waking up at 3 in the morning to Tate puking in our bed. (He was only in our bed because he had been so fussy. Hmm wonder why?) Then, on the way to the bathroom to start cleaning Tate up, I stepped in Ruthie's throw-up. Nice! It just wouldn't be a real vacation without at least one kid getting sick. Poor Ruth took most of the next day to recover. Needless to say, we still had a great time.
Before the Tahoe excursion, we went up to Brigham City for Ryan to play in a softball tournament with some friends and family. There was one bit of excitement when Ryan decided to plow over the 6 foot 4, super scary, biker looking catcher that had been drinking at 10 am, because he was blocking the baseline. Yeah, that didn't go over real well with him or any of his equally scary teammates. They came out swinging. Luckily nobody got hurt and Ryan's team won that game. I just told him (10 or 12 times) to remember he's playing softball, NOT football!

I love weddings

I love weddings! Even in August in Arizona. We went down for another quick trip (sorry to the many people we didn't get to see!) for my sister Amy's wedding to Jordan McCoy. They are the cutest couple and everyone approves of Jordan as the newest bro-in-law. My favorite picture is Ruthie and Amy twirling together! I think Amy won that contest. She was a beautiful bride. It was fun for Ruthie and Tate to see cousins and even meet the newest little guy in the family. We also went out with my family to celebrate my parents anniversary the day after the other wedding festivities. The whole family was there except my bro-in-law Dallen. So much fun, and we miss everyone already!

New Family Pictures

We finally have nice new family pictures with Tate! They were taken up near Alta by Highlite Photography. Tate refused to smile the entire time! He had just woken up from the long drive. Ruthie made up for it with her cheeser smiles.

Fun friends

We have had so many people move out of our neighborhood the past few months. The good thing is that great people have moved into almost all of these homes! We went hiking a couple of weekends ago up Provo Canyon with a few newer friends of ours. You can tell that Ry and I are the "old ones" with 2 kids! It was so much fun, thanks guys!
That same afternoon Ryan and I decided we might as well get even more dirty and drove up to Millcreek Canyon. The trail we hiked was steep and pretty long, but beautiful at the top! Ruthie and Tate love the view up on our backs so they were good considering the long day.

Ruthie love her dad's softball games. The season just wrapped up and she will sure miss cheering him on. And yes that is Ryan crushing another ball in the background!
